Acme Mechanical Contractors of Virginia, Inc. evolved from L&S Mechanical Contractors Inc. (Acme Mechanical Contractors), an Oklahoma contractor founded in 1952. With active business in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Alabama, and North Carolina, eventually Acme Mechanical Contractors expanded into the Mid-Atlantic region, opening a branch office in Manassas, Virginia in 1986. At that time, long-term Acme Mechanical employee Gary London relocated from Oklahoma to Virginia to take the role of Vice President. He brought with him several employees, some of whom are still with the company today, and together they built a solid foundation in Northern Virginia. In 2000, Acme Mechanical Contractors of Virginia, Inc. was established as a separate company, with Gary London as its owner and President.
From a strong beginning in the multifamily housing area, Acme Mechanical entered the commercial market in 1989 when it began new construction, renewals, and additions in schools across Stafford, Prince William, Fairfax, Arlington, and Fauquier Counties. Acme Mechanical also actively pursued work for other commercial entities including churches, office buildings, retail stores, and hospitals.
Our employees are like family. Together we share the ownership of Acme Mechanical Contractors through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). In 2009, Founder Gary London started the transfer of the business to our employees by selling 30% of the company’s stock. When Gary was diagnosed with cancer in 2012, he transferred more shares to the employees, making it a 90% ESOP. This ensures that our entire team is dedicated to performing at the highest level and providing the best possible service for our customers.
